Abstract

The main objective of the BOREXINO detector is to measure the monoenergetic 7Be-solar neutrino flux (E ν=862 keV) by neutrino-electron scattering in a liquid scintillator target. To study the radiopurity of the detector components, and to check the feasibility of BOREXINO a small scale prototype detector, the C ounting T est F acility (CTF), has been installed in the Gran Sasso Underground Laboratory in Italy. In this article the current status of the experiment and recent results from the CTF are reported.
