Abstract

Highly solar light active cerium molybdate (Ce(MoO 4 ) 2 ) nanocatalyst was prepared by facile hydrothermal method. XRD shows that cerium molybdate nanomaterial has a tetragonal phase. The well agglomerated particles are shown in SEM images. The sample's band gap energy may thus be derived from a KM Tauc plot versus photon energy (hν). The calculated Eg was 2.57 eV, which reveals that it can be utilized effectively in visible light sensitized photocatalysis. In addition, the excellent photocatalytic behaviour of Ce(MoO 4 ) 2 was tested in the potential carcinogenic Fuchsin basic dye. Operational parameters were discussed, such as impact of initial pH, catalyst concentration, and initial concentration of the dye. The photocatalyst is stable and reusable for all the five cycles.
