Abstract

Full Sun observations in UV and EUV emission lines were performed by SUMER (Solar Ultraviolet Measurements of Emitted Radiation) on SOHO (Solar and Heliospheric Observatory) in 1996 and 1997. The pre-flight calibration of SUMER is traceable to a primary radiometric source standard. Irradiance values have been obtained for the lines HeI (λ584), OV (λ629), NeVIII (λ770), SV (λ786), OIV (λ787), SVI (λλ933, 944), HI Ly ϵ (λ937), CIII (λ977), NV (λ1238), SiI (λ1256), and CIV (λ1548). The spatially resolved measurements allowed good estimates to be made of the active region contributions to the irradiance of the quiet Sun. The centre-to-limb radiance variations have also been deduced for these lines.
