Abstract

Extinction coefficient of the material is an important parameter in simulating the optical performance of windows. It is very difficult to get the extinction coefficient of aerogel (ECA). In this paper, a test-room is built in order to get the practical transmittance of the aerogel glazing systems (AGSs). It is found more than 90% indoor radiation is diffuse radiation. To get the ECA, an integral model is set up in MATLAB. Incident angle and scattering phenomena are taken into account in this paper. The experimental data is the input data to the model. The calculation results of the ECA is 0.0296/mm. It also suits well with the experiment on July 27th and July 28th. So this model is a feasible and effective way to get the ECA.
