Abstract

A methodology to acquire and process geostationary satellite data for the derivation of regional global radiation statistics is described. Eight regions, each encompassing an Australian capital city were chosen for the three year study. Statistics are presented on a monthly basis and consist of mean daily global radiation, standard deviation of daily global radiation, and number of cloudy and sunny days. Some typical patterns are discussed.
