Abstract
Africa is one of the most populated continents in the world. With the increase in population, there is an increase in energy demand. Solar energy technologies are considered viable options for increasing the countries’ electrification. This is because Africa has relatively high solar energy potential. There are some challenges that face the solar energy market that can slow down the implementation of projects. Moreover, the spreading of Covid-19 across the continent may pose additional challenges. In this paper, the solar energy potential in Africa is discussed before and after Covid-19. This will determine whether Covid-19 is a challenge or an opportunity for the solar energy market.
