Abstract

Ionospheric E-region drift measurements have been made at Ibadan between 1958 and 1974 and the velocity data have been analysed for possible solar-cycle effect. It has been found that both the true velocity V and the apparent velocity V of the full correlation analysis are not dependent on the solar cycle. This result is shown to be consistent with the hypothesis that the solar-cycle variation in the equatorial E-region current intensity is due principally to corresponding variation in the E-region electron density.
