Abstract

Solar panel blockage is a major concern to the International Space Station S-band communication link assessment. Solar array electromagnetic scattering characteristics at S-band frequencies (2-2.3 GHz) are investigated. Both experimental and computational results indicate the solar array can be modelled as a conducting plate for S-band communication link signal strength predictions.
