• A comprehensive national soil map and a virtual soil library database are fundamental for future research • The creation of a legal framework that considers both the fragility and potential of soils is imperative • Quantifying land management outcomes for soil health vs degradation and incentivizing sustainable land management is critical • Soil science curriculum requires more up-to-date and evidence-based terminology as well as emerging concepts and technologies • New legislation regulating soil protection, use, conservation, and management is underway in the Chilean Congress
