Abstract

SUMMARYThe protozoan population of these tobacco soils were typical species generally found in soils. No soils were free of Protozoa, though very few were found in some of the lower depth samples and in the sandy soils.Though there was an indication that higher numbers of Protozoa were found in the chernozem soils, no definite connexion was observed between either the numbers of Protozoa or the species with the types of soil examined. The numbers generally showed a decrease with increasing depth of soil; there were a few exceptions to this.
