• Israel’s irrigation management successfully considers soil degradation due to intense land use and water quality. • Climate change is likely to influence trends of airborne dust deposition and nutrient availability. • Nature-based agro-services focus on low organic matter soils, Mediterranean climate, intensive farming, and upscaling irrigation needs. • Reintroducing pedology would promote soil education, classification, mapping and public awareness.
