Abstract

A survey was conducted to know the status of available N, P and K thereby to estimate Soil Nutrient Index for these soils. One hundred surface soil samples were collected from 20 villages (5 samples from each village). The analyzed samples showed that these soils were neutral to alkaline in soil reaction, safe in electrical conductivity, low to moderate in organic carbon content and non-calcareous to calcareous in nature. The status of available N and P were low to medium in while, available K was medium to high range. Considering soil nutrient indexing values, these soils were found low in N and P and high in available K. Available nitrogen showed positive significant relationship with organic carbon only. Whereas, available P and K showed positive correlation with physico-chemical properties (pH, EC, Organic carbon and CaCO3) of soils.
