Abstract
Lime-induced chlorosis of Dallis grass was caused by an interaction of structure and lime content of the soil. Root respiration was affected by lime content on coarsely aggregated soil only. A correlation between root respiationr and leaf chlorophyll content was found, but no causal relationship is necessarily to be inferred. The nature of the lime-soil structure interaction, possibly an aeration factor, requires further clarification.
