SOI slot photonic crystal heterostructure cavities in the 1.3 µm – 1.6 µm range for hybrid photonic integration

Abstract

In this paper, we report a series of slot photonic crystal heterostructure cavities with resonant wavelengths in the range of 1.3 µm – 1.6 µm. These cavities, which have a wide range operation as well as high Q/V factors (above 800,000), can be used for various applications based on the integration of active materials in the silicon photonics platform.
