Abstract
Mobile Mapping System (MMS) for terrain surveys is the set of 3D Point cloud display to the georeferenced location. To build MMS, high accuracy data is necessary since we need a 3D map that creates from Light Detection and Ranging(LiDAR) technology integrated with Inertial Navigation System (INS). For our research, Velodyne LiDAR PUCK and NovAtel INS has been used. However the data combining of LiDAR and INS is very important. Since the hardware synchronization is complex and less reliability. In this study, we propose a software based synchronization which is an alternative method for MMS data combining. The software is required to combine the LiDAR data and the INS data together with high data rate. The result will obtain an Exchange Format file such as LASer(LAS) file format for displayed a Point cloud and use in other GIS applications.
