Abstract
After the publication in 1942 of a theoretical-empirical method to calculate hardenability of steels from its composition, a lot of methods to predict in service behaviour and properties of low-alloy steels have been divulged. This work describes how a low cost, user-friendly and wide-utility application can be developed from theoretical methods published in the specialised metallurgical literature. It will be also presented how these theoretical methods can be combined in order to simulate the in service behaviour of low-alloy steels and to approach reality as much as possible. The available results in the application are: Fe-C diagram, data for thermal treatments, TTT and TRC diagrams, tempering diagrams, Jominy curves and distribution of hardness in quenched and tempered bars.
