Abstract

When IEEE Software published its Software Engineering (SE) Radio podcast on 23 February 2022—featuring Sergey Gorbunov on blockchain interoperability—it was the 500th in a series that has run continuously since its inception in 2006. The SE Radio podcast was begun by Markus Völter, a software engineer in Germany, along with some of his colleagues and associates. Völter and his team chose to include radio in the title because, at the time, only about 22% of the world population knew what a podcast was,1 so they tied the endeavor to a more familiar concept. The name has endured, as has the podcast.
