Abstract
if X-ray stars in binary systems are neutron stars or black holes whose luminosity results from accretion from a stellar wind, they should have soft X-ray cutoffs in the observable range (0.25 keV < E < 5 keV) which vary in a predictable way according to the radius and inclination of the binary orbit.
