Abstract

The first example of soft X-ray emission spectra for the graphite-like layered material of composition BC6N has been reported. The lower energy part (bottom of valence band) of the C K spectrum for BC6N is similar in shape to that of graphite, while the top of the valence band for BC6N distributes to a higher energy than that for graphite, which is more similar to that of a metal. B K and N K spectra also suggest that the valence band of BC6N is not like a metal but like a hybridized material.
