Abstract

In this article, the novel concept of soft independent set is introduced. The notion of soft independent sets, with examples from linear algebra and graph theory, is illustrated. Moreover, the concept of soft hereditary system is introduced. A soft matroid is defined and examples of soft hereditary systems which form soft matroids are given. Finally, applications of soft independent sets in decision-making is presented.
