Abstract

The paradigm of soft computing encompasses mathematical techniques in solving the complex real-life problems which are capable of handling uncertainty and partial truth. As a matter of fact, soft computing techniques do not adhere to strict mathematical and technical dimensions, and as such, human mind is given importance to. Because of its adaptive nature, soft computing technique is pre-dominant in social sciences, too, as it renders human knowledge in the form of ‘cognition, recognition and learning’. Since soft computing techniques are indifferent towards strict mathematical formulation, social science arena of recent times focuses on the usage of it, as the characteristics of the human brain to recognise and perceive can be deduced through it. Behavioural approach can be studied through probabilistic reasoning, and diverse solutions can be provided for one complex problem. The present study is an attempt towards analysing the emergence of soft computing techniques in the field of social sciences, which has the ability to structure hazy problems which are fuzzy in nature amidst the environment of uncertainty.
