Abstract

A new patented process for recovering lead from rough copper dross by sodium treatment was implemented at Asarcoys Glover Smelter in 1979. The basic metallurgical principles of the process are explained, and current plant operating procedures and results are described. The advantages of the sodium process, as compared to traditional dross treating in a reverberatory, and its possible application to treating complex lead blast furnace drosses are discussed.
