Abstract

Objective: Effective therapies to accelerate vascular repair are currently lacking. Pre-clinical studies suggest that hydrogen sulphide (H2S), an endogenous gasotransmitter, promotes angiogenesis. It was hypothesised that sodium thiosulphate (STS), a clinically relevant H2S donor, stimulates angiogenesis and vascular repair.
