Abstract

A new coordination polymer, [Zn2Na4(CH3COO)8H2O]n (1) has been synthesized and characterized by IR spectroscopy. The single crystal X-ray data of compound 1 shows that this coordination polymer grows in two dimensions. Also, the ZnO nanoparticles has been synthesized by thermolysis of compound 1 in oleic acid, calcination at 500 and 600°C under air atmosphere and sol–gel processes. Nanoparticles were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Thermal stability of compound 1 was carried out by thermal gravimetric (TG) and differential thermal analysis (DTA). The zinc(II) oxide nanoparticles were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM).
