Abstract

Abstract Rats with ablations of either the entire neocortex or just the sensory cortex including the taste projection area responded to sodium depletion or mineralocorticoid treatment by increasing their intake of sodium chloride solution. The natrorectic response of the decorticate rats to sodium depletion was somewhat attentuated or delayed in comparison to intact controls but their response to mineralocorticoid treatment was normal.
