Blue Sock is spotted sailing on a hot air balloon, relaxing at the beach with other rogue socks, painting a masterpiece, and dancing to the banjo. Eventually, Blue Sock misses being part of a pair and returns home, and the narrator lets viewers know that the next time a sock goes missing, "it's just finding itself!" This amusing take on the fate of those socks that seem to completely disappear and then suddenly reappear has bouncy rhyme that makes for a lively readaloud: "Maybe this sock wants to explore/the great big world outside of its drawer." McGlauflin's watercolor art is vivacious and comical, personifying the socks upside down with floppy heads and minimalistic but expression-filled faces as they surf waves and make art. Kids will get a laugh out of this creative answer to mystery of their missing socks. Copyright © 2021 The Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois
