Abstract
This and the next issue of Chinese Sociology and Anthropology are devoted to Tenth Anniversary of the New Chinese Sociology, 1979-1989. This theme will be treated in three parts: The introduction will discuss the development and characteristics of Chinese sociology; the translated articles will serve to illustrate the breadth and depth of sociological inquiry in China over the past ten years; and the chronology of Chinese sociology, 1895-1989, will highlight major events and achievements. We hope to shed some light upon the sociology of sociology.
