Abstract

I have been a reader and an author of Sotsiologicheskie issledovaniia for many years, and I am proud of this. Among my publications in the journal I will mention the article Discussions—Gender Studies: The Reflections of a Participant in an International Seminar. I mention this article because the very terms studies and have become recognized and topical in our country only recently [1]. Russian sociology has lagged behind foreign scholarship in posing and studying these questions, although the latter concern a long-term and promising direction of sociological and sociopsychological knowledge. An indication of this is that at the regular Twelfth World Congress of Sociologists there will be, for the first time, a section on gender relations and social transformations.
