Abstract

People from socioeconomically deprived areas are more likely to have chronic kidney disease and renal failure. Despite this, socioeconomically deprived renal patients are less likely to both be listed for a deceased-donor transplant and receive a live-donor transplant. Pippa Bailey summarises the literature outlining the reasons for these observations and suggests interventions to redress disparities.
