Abstract

The article deals with the socio-economic prerequisites for the multifunctional school buildings formation, which is aimed at achieving the goals of sustainable community development. The unsatisfactory condition of the socio-cultural service network is one of the reasons for the migration of the rural population, which leads to the depopulation of rural settlements. An important task for sustainable development of rural areas is to build social infrastructure. A promising area of improving the socio-cultural institutions network is their formation on the basis of the principle of cooperation of resources. Integration of general secondary education institutions with health care institutions, extracurricular education, sports-wellness and cultural and educational institutions will provide an opportunity to establish social and cultural services in rural settlements, where the functioning of autonomous institutions is economically impractical or impossible. Under these conditions, the schools will function as community socio - cultural centers, and not only children but also the adult population will use multifunctional school buildings. Organization on the basis of general secondary education institutions of consultative points will provide an opportunity for the population of the community for a lifetime near the place of residence. This will allow the public to be involved in the activity of the general secondary education institution, and will reduce segregation phenomena in society. The socio - economic advantages of erection of multifunctional school buildings have been confirmed by scientific research and experience of their operation.
