Abstract

In this paper, socialization is seen as a mechanism of social control which functions as the integration of societal community. Socialization enables the reproduction of the basic forms of experience and action and that also means the general characteristics of the personality of a certain type of society. In this way, socialization creates a foundation for spatial and temporal duration of physical identity and socio-cultural life. Socialization as a mechanism of social control is a part of the specific practices of control and has its instruments for the direct realisation of control. This paper deals specifically with the practise of manipulation as a form of mass, programed or spontaneous socialization of the masses. The paper gives four stages of socialization as a mechanism of social control that are viewed through the prism of relations between institutionalization and socialization, based on an example of family and education. Finally, we give an overview of some instruments of socialization, such as: cultural values, habits, norms, customs and beliefs.
