THE LYELL MEDAL— Derek Biggs for his outstanding work on exceptionally preserved fossils. THE MURCHISON MEDAL— David Green for widely influential work on aspects of igneous petrology and geochemistry. THE WILLIAM SMITH MEDAL— Denys Brunsden for his academic and applied work on broad aspects of geomorphology, especially pioneering work on mass movement, soil erosion and lanslides.
