Abstract
O presente artigo tem por objetivo apresentar e discutir através de diversos autores o conceito de Sociedade Civil de Antônio Gramsci (1891-1937) em sua obra carcerária denominada “Cadernos do Cárcere” para o programa de Iniciação Científica Voluntária - ICV da UFPI nos anos de 2010 e 2011, cuja orientação foi do Professor Doutor Rodrigo Duarte dos Passos. A pesquisa foi embasada na tentativa de resolver o problema a seguir: Como efetuar um breve balanço da literatura em língua portuguesa sobre a definição gramsciana da Sociedade Civil? E testar a seguinte hipótese: A literatura disponível em língua portuguesa referente à categoria gramsciana de Sociedade Civil tende a dissociá-la da Sociedade Política ou Estado?
