Abstract
Abstract The symposium is intended to fill a gap in the literature on comparative social welfare. Very little has been published on how societies deal with the problems experienced by veterans of military service and their dependants, and the survivors of deceased military service personnel and veterans. The term ‘veterans of military service’ refers both to both military personnel who have combat experience and those who have not.
