Abstract

A great many ABS readers will be surprised at the variety and popularity of social science courses offered in the high schools of America. We present here an abstract of some figures from a report of The Educational Testing Service of Princeton on the percent of schools teaching the human sciences. Questions of quality are for another time; it is useful to note here, however, the kinds of exposure the group are getting, when, and where. The lebensraum for social science is expanding : but are there the proper personnel and materials to fill it? Scarvia B. Anderson, Dolores F. Ahrens, Rosemary Russell, and Donald A. Trismen were authors of the full report.
