Abstract

The article considers the results of the sociological survey of 2023 concerning the choice of future profession among school-graduates of three Russian regions. The empirical base of the study was formed by the survey materials of the 9th and the 11th grade schoolchildren. The survey was carried out using the questionnaire method in the republics of Tyva, Altai and Khakassia (2522 people, multistage sampling). The analysis of the question concerning the influence of nationality on the social-professional orientations among school-graduates from the republics of Altai, Tuva and Khakassia did not show any significant differences. But there were differences caused by the peculiarities of the social environment and specifics of social-economic development in the mentioned republics. The choice of future profession is determined by the social environment, which differs in the three regions by its social-economic features in each other. The authors understand the concept «social-professional orientation» as the decision, as a social action that a school-graduate performs for achieving his or her goal – getting education and profession. The study of questionnaires responses indicates that the majority of the school-graduates connects the choice of their future profession with a primarily affective action, next with value-rational social action; in the third place – purposeful rational action, in the last – traditional action. Special attention is paid to the issue of choosing a region for a future place of work, which reveals the desire of schoolchildren: to stay to work in their region replenishing the human capital of their native republic, or to move to another region and organize labor activities there. We tried to find out whether social-professional orientations correspond to the real needs of the regional economy using a sociological survey among the graduates of the republican schools within three mentioned regions.
