Abstract

The aim of this research is to explore the ways in which socialpolicies, aimed at addressing social exclusion in different rural areas ofSpain and Portugal, have been developed since 2008 in order to determinehow the recession has affected the social policies of South-East Europe. Ourarticle presents an integrative and territorial approach for studying thedevelopment of social policies oriented to social exclusion in rural areas.Through the study of policy programs, reports and practitioners’ views, weproject a qualitative view of the impacts that the last period of economiccrisis and austerity policies have had on social policies, in the different ruralterritories of the Iberian Peninsula.
