Abstract
This paper will look at the informal life of secondary schools through the eyes of the children. What is the atmosphere in schools of different types and sizes? How does school atmosphere affect the social experience of students with differing abilities and from different family backgrounds? Of particular interest is the relevance of these matters to the question of efficacy of the Catholic school system in America. Are there any special effects which Catholic schools have on their students?
