Abstract

Aim. To discuss the results of the study on the effectiveness of psychological assistance to women experiencing the loss of a spouse in the form of social networks support groups.Methodology. The study used the comparison method of the results of psychodiagnostics of two groups of women who participated and did not participate in a psychological assistance program in the VK (social network) support groups. The research also relies on a number of psychodiagnostic techniques aimed at studying psychological characteristics of women. To process the data obtained, methods of qualitative and quantitative analysis, methods of mathematical data processing were used.Results. The study proves the effectiveness of the proposed psychological program of assistance to women experiencing the loss of a spouse, implemented through a social network community. It was determined that women who have completed the program tend to experience reduced impact of a psychotraumatic event on their general psychological state, as well as a decrease in the level of psychological stress and depressive symptoms manifestations. Emerging models of coping behavior and strategies for coping with stress tend to be optimized in terms of getting out of social “isolation”, making social contact and seeking social support.Research implication. The results obtained and the materials presented in this article, as well as the proposed organizational and methodological recommendations for the program, expand the possibilities of providing psychological assistance to people facing the loss, and allow the material to be used by practicing psychologists working with the above-mentioned problem.
