Abstract

Colleges and universities are switching from automatically accepting ACT/SAT scores to the test-optional model in college admissions. The test-optional admissions policy will encourage a broader pool of students into schools of higher learning. One reason why school are dropping the SAT/ACT requirement is the unfairness of schools not accepting many students of color into their academic programs. This social justice paper will explore racial bias in college entrance exams and reasons why the test-optional model may be one method in correcting this problem.
