Abstract
Recently, some 6500 invitations went out from basement of a Capitol Hill townhouse in Washington, D.C. They were sent to universities, research institutes, and individuals in U.S. and more than 80 foreign countries, inviting undergraduate and graduate studentsto participate in a unique international conference—the 1985 Student Pugwash International Conference. Based on theme, Science, Technology & Individual Responsibility, conference will be held June 23-29 at Princeton University. Ninety or so students will be selected to participate, out of 500 or more applicants expected. At conference, students will engage in a week of intensive discussions with more than 30 prominent scientists, engineers, specialists in social sciences and humanities, and executives. The discussions will focus on the ethical and social dimensions of scientific and technological decision-making—with working groups concentrating on five current issues.
