Abstract

Since the late 1970's reform and, adjustment have become a world trend. Ten years of reform in China is an important part of it. This article looks into the tackling of the ecological maladjustment in the Loess Plateau which is known for its poverty. The initial improvement of living standard and economic development in these communities are due to the fact that the ecological-agriculture road was chosen. Reform, it is proposed, should also include the work of strengthening the people's ecological consciousness. What social workers can infer from the successful experience of the Loess Plateau is: social work in the process of reform should pay particular attention to social, economic, and ecological benefits.
