Abstract

Acknowledging the importance of social context and interaction in the English language learning classroom can have a positive impact on the learners' experience and can lead to more successful language learning. The more formal classroom social context is influenced by numerous factors and with the spread of Internet access around the world, the students' informal social context is wider than ever before. Seven time‐tested practical ideas that engage the students in interactive activities to enhance their learning opportunities in both formal and informal social contexts are offered.
