Abstract
An interdisciplinary review of the literature provides support for relating the structure of dominancy concept to social change and inequality in the race-caste system and the patriarchy. Race and gender inequality are viewed as intersecting in the concern for and the exercise of white male dominance. Four elements of the race-caste structure of dominancy are identified as being greatly impacted by technological change and social movements. Traditional myths supporting the belief system and the structure of dominancy have been shattered by changing statuses and roles of blacks and females. Status inconsistencies relative to expectations and behavior essential to the structure of dominancy produce tensions and anxieties that motivate some to use propaganda to restore elements of dominancy. An examination of trends in labor force participation rates provides evidence of the mythical nature of notion currently devised to restore that dominancy
