Abstract
This article aims to analyse the empirical data presented in the “Świat na miarę seniora” study and the functioning and meaning of social welfare for people of senior age. The empirical findings are juxtaposed both with the current functioning of the social welfare system and the social challenges, particularly related to demographic changes. The article's main conclusion is that social welfare holds marginal importance for today’s generation of senior citizens, as they do not align with the dominant formula of protective activity of the social welfare system.
