Abstract

The present work was developed in two Family Health Units (USF) of Sinop, Mato Grosso. The objective was to identify the epidemiological profile and reproductive behavior of adolescent pregnant women attending primary care. The sample consisted of 20 pregnant women between 12 and 18 years of age. Semi-structured interviews were conducted and the data showed that the average age of pregnant women was 15.6 years. All had their first sexual intercourse before the age of 16. School dropout rates were 36.7% among adolescents attended at the Boa Esperanca health unit and 33.3% at those attended at USF Dr. Carlos Scholtao. The unemployment rate was significant, being 78.6% and 50% in the respective USF Boa Esperanca and Dr. Carlos Scholtao. The financial support of the parents was expressive. Most teens in both USFs have not been able to characterize what is a sexually transmitted disease. The results pointed to the need for differential support to these adolescents, since they are not aware of STDs and are characterized by being at risk of not using contraceptive methods.
