Abstract
This work analyzes the problems presented by two manuscripts from the time of the May Revolution with translations of the United States Constitution attributed to Dr. Mariano Moreno. It indicates the provenance of both documents and in what circumstances they were attributed to Dr. Moreno. Then the article presents unknown or scattered evidence that challenges this widespread belief. It reviews some inaccuracies in the historiography and reveals the true author of the version contained in one of these documents that still remains unpublished in private hands. Regarding the second and best known, that is kept in the Treasury of the Argentine National Library, it presents novel arguments that allow with reasonable certainty to question its attribution to Moreno. It proposes alternative attributions according to the available historical documentation, which opens new paths for research and critical reflection on this Argentine constitutional antecedent.
