Abstract

The Internet and the World Wide Web are becoming ubiquitous means of presenting and accessing information. As these technologies permeate society, knowledge of how to use them is going to be a requisite for most, if not all, people who currently rely on more traditional media like newspapers or archived materials to do their jobs. This technological revolution will also herald a new group of data management professionals who not only maintain all of this digital content but also the means by which it is disseminated. After a look at the history of the Internet, the author describes the skill set best suited to World Wide Web site managers.
