Abstract

This month in Geophysics, the Case History is a paper by Daley et al. (Crosswell seismic imaging in a contaminated basalt aquifer) that demonstrates the application of crosswell seismic tomography to a fractured basalt aquifer to aid hydrologic characterization. The authors use two seismic sources of different frequency to provide imaging at spatial scales and to demonstrate that low-velocity zones are colocated with contaminate transport (assumably because of fracture flow).
