Abstract

The death of an employee is one of the important legal facts that have relevant legal consequences for the individual’s surroundings. The aim of this article is to identify the legal regulation of the death of an employee in the Slovak legal order with an emphasis on Act No. 311/2001 Coll. of the Labour Code as amended and to analyse it in the context of the existing employment relationship with the solution of potential situations that may arise in connection with the death of an employee. This article provides answers to the questions of what impact the death of an employee has on the employment relationship and whether the death of an employee who is in an employment relationship with the employer also has an impact on other persons and in what way the impact of the death of an employee is dealt with in the context of the Labour Code.
